Our client asked us to meet three requirements – remove the overgrown lawn, keep maintenance low and provide a substantial pond.

The large patio next to the house has created a family dining area and is surrounded by scented planting. The second patio catches the evening sun, and as the garden matures will become more enclosed and secluded. The quartz paving is laid in bands, thus tricking the eye into appearing larger than it actually is.

Water is integrated into the space in the form of a pond, designed to be viewed from the main living area of the house. Mixed beach pebbles flow from one patio to the other and down into the pond margins tying the scheme together. Planting through the pebbles helps soften the open spaces.

The large pond and fountain stone create a relaxing atmosphere and provide a haven for local birdlife.
