Our clients were looking for a raised entertaining area adjacent to the kitchen. Our solution was a contemporary deck using treated reclaimed timber. The deck itself is framed by four posts which incorporate a series of crossing wires, these are used as support for Clematis, Wisteria and Honeysuckle and look stunning when hung with tealights from after dark.

The view from the kitchen is framed by two large bamboos in zinc containers, which stand either side of the Caithness stone steps. Caithness stone is also used to form a magnificent bench for which we designed a slatted teak upper, as well as a raised bed adjacent to the deck.

Contemporary planting of grasses provides movement and texture as well as being extremely easy to look after. Paper bag luminarias make for beautiful lighting at the base of the steps.
